WHO IS APPALACHIA PRESS?

John Reburn, printmaker and owner, is an artist with over 25 years of experience, working most of his career in Los Angeles as a graphic artist. Trained at Arizona State University and Otis Art Institute, his background in typography and graphic design led him to explore the beauty and simplicity of old-school printing.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Commercial art and design gave him the opportunity to work with entertainment companies including Disney and NBC; non-profit organizations APLA, Bet Tzedek Legal Services, LA Animal Services, Boy Scouts of America, the Los Angeles Archdiocese, the Larry King Foundation and the Tiger Woods Foundation; and designed posters for Broadway theatrical productions and events including the Monterey Jazz Festival. John personally enjoyed designing the promotional touring materials for musicians.

With regards to fine art, Reburn has worked in a variety of mediums, but his love for printed materials has taken him back to the basics. "Letterpress and Silk Screen was a passion that stuck," he explains. "It's simple, direct, and so very freeing when it comes to the images it can serve. We try to honor the labor and elegance of past traditions with the greatest of care and attention to detail. Vintage letterpress renders beautiful impressions of words and images, creating cards, invitations and announcements that are truly one of a kind.
